Homestation Instrumentation Training System (HITS)

The Homestation Instrumentation Training System (HITS) provides customizable production capabilities for Battle Tracking, Exercise Command and Control and After Action Reviews (AAR). HITS tracks locations of soldiers and vehicles and simulates weapons effects and engagements allowing units to “train as they fight” against living opponents. During the initial acquisition, only the Core components are required, as training needs change, additional components may be added.

RDS

The Range Data System (RDS) was designed to interface to and interoperates with the Live Training Transformation (LT2) Exercise Control (EXCON) (Homestation Instrumentation Training System) via the LT2 Player Unit Common Training Instrumentation Architecture (CTIA) Common Message Set Interface Control Document (ICD)

The RDS includes a software utility that will provide the ability to configure the center frequency, channel bandwidth, modulation type, data bit rate, and maximum transmit power level of the wireless devices.

The RDS reports Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI), alarm conditions (over temperature, Transmittor (Tx) power failure, etc), and performance statistics (packets transmitted, packets received, packets in error, etc).

The RDS supports the following message rate: 250 Player Units with a message every 15 seconds on one 25 KHz channel.

Exportable Training Capability (ETC)

The ETC-IS will be a deployable component of the US Army's Maneuver Combat Training Center (MCTC) Program. The ETC-IS will be used to prepare Brigade Combat Teams (BCTs) for battle within the construct of a live-training simulation. Given this training audience and construct, the ETC-IS will be considered an MCTC, along with the JMRC, JRTC, and NTC. Within the ARFORGEN readiness model, the ETC-IS will focus on Army Mission Essential Task List (METL) training support for units transitioning between the Reset/Train and Ready Force Pools. However, the ETC-IS will retain the flexibility to conduct Mission Rehearsal Exercises (MRE) for units transitioning between the Ready and Available Force Pools. The ETC-IS will also be a sub-component of an existing, fixed-site MCTC Operations Group in order to gain efficiencies in facility requirements, administration, Observer / Controller (O/C) training and standardization, EXCON functions while providing MCTC Commanders flexibility in accomplishing their MCTC Program mission.

Program Manager: John Miller

Engineering Lead: Bob Uhl

Description

  • Provides real time monitoring of the battlefield actions of the BCT in training through video and integration of ABCS data.
  • Provides the capability for the Observer Controllers to communicate within the down range training and ETC-IS base node areas.
  • All BCT significant event, tactical voice and video is recorded at the ETC-IS base node for use during After Action Review (AAR).

Riptide Responsibilities

  • Lead Information Assurance (IA) partner.
  • Live Training and Transformation (LT2) Integrator

Riptide is integral in the development of ETC-IS and is the lead information assurance support for the ETC-IS initiative.

One Tactical Engagement Simulation System (OneTESS)

One Tactical Engagement Simulation System (OneTESS) is a family of compatible, live-environment, engagement capabilities that replicate weapon effects of all combat weapon systems in the conduct of collective training and testing.

OneTESS will support force-on-force and force-on-target training exercises at brigade and below in all Battlefield Operating Systems at homestations, maneuver Combat Training Centers and deployed sites, and it will ultimately be embedded into all weapon systems.

Riptide is the lead for exercise control development for OneTESS.

Marine Corps Instrumentation Training System (MC-ITS)

MC-ITS is an exercise control and After Action Review (AAR) base system capable of monitoring real-time live training and exercises for the purposes of instrumentation data collection, analysis, and review. MC-ITS will provide the ability to support multiple training exercises at the same time, and it will provide objective data collection and analysis of unit performance in Force-On-Force (FOF), Force-On-Target (FOT), Live Fire (LF), and associated Command Post Exercises (CPX). The system will collate training feedback materials from varied training support and simulation systems to provide a comprehensive AAR package for associated training elements. MC-ITS will significantly enhance the training capability, operational readiness, and tactical proficiency of Marines using the operational Counter Radio-controlled Improvised Explosive Device (C-IED), and the Counter Radio Electronic Warfare 2 (CREW2) device systems.
